Novak Djokovic the reigning champion walked on to centre court at 1pm to face a tough opener against Philipp Kolschreiber which he came through safely ,despite the close attentions of a blue tit, who was very reluctant to leave the show court

Britains Johanna Konta put up a great fight against Maria Sharapova before going down 62 62 a score line that perhaps did not reflect how competitive the match was.
