Wimbledon Day 2

Umbrellas up at Wimbledon on the first week is a familiar site but in this occasion it was to block out the sun, not keep out the rain

Centre Court temperatures peaked at 41 degrees during the afternoon
Matches started in rip roaring fashion with Angelique Kerber winning in straight sets in just 45 minutes, only to be surpassed by reigning champion Petra Kvitova seeing off Kiki Bertens even quicker in 35 minutes.

The great masters Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal both started their campaign with wins. Nadal looked his old self rampaging like a mad bull during the coin toss and producing that sumptuous top spin forehand with regularity

Out went Genie Bouchard to the world ranked number 170 apparently she played against medical advice whilst suffering from a grade 2 abdominal tear

More Misery For Poor Genie

More surprising was the defeat of number 3 seed Simona Halep to Jana Cepalova
